Swann Van Rechem

Direction

"Grand prix", "Coup de coeur de l'orchestre", and "Coup de coeur du public" at the 58th Besançon International Competition for Young Conductors - French conductor Swann Van Rechem has worked with ensembles such as Jenaer Philharmonie, MDR-Sinfonieorchester, Thüringen Philharmonie Gotha-Eisenach, Nord Nederland Orkest, Hradec Králové. His passion for opera has led him to take part in productions at Opéra de Nantes, Opéra de Rouen Normandie, and soon at Opera Ballet Vlaanderen and Deutsches National Theater Weimar. Modern repertoire also holds a special place in his heart, and he took part in the Lucerne Festival's Conducting Fellowship in 2021, where he received guidance from Wolfgang Rihm, Dieter Ammann and Enno Poppe, and conducted numerous premieres.

He also founded the ensemble Les Parnassiens, specializing in early 20th-century repertoire for chamber orchestra. As assistant conductor, he has collaborated with Antony Hermus, Nicolas Pasquet and Ariane Matiakh (with the support of the Momentum our future, now foundation, created by Barbara Hannigan).

He has also taken part in numerous projects with youth orchestras such as the Orchestre Français des Jeunes, the Bundesjugendorchester, the Landesjugendsinfonieorchester Hessen and the Hanze Symphony Orchestra. A percussionist by training, he studied at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris. He has performed with major orchestras and ensembles (Ensemble Intercontemporain, Orchestre National Bordeaux Aquitaine, Orchestre de l'Opéra de Limoges, Ensemble Le Balcon, etc.) as well as solo and chamber music ensembles (creations by Frédéric Durieux, Dylan Corley, Filippos Sakagian, etc.).

Originally from Lille, Swann studied conducting with Jean-Sébastien Béreau, and at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam with Antony Hermus, Karel Deseure, and Ed Spanjaard. He is currently perfecting his master's degree with Nicolás Pasquet and Ekhart Wycik at the Hochschule für Musik Franz Liszt Weimar.
