" The Victor Hugo, in this symphonic poem that seems to have been composed for him, reaches heights of refinement under the baton of Jean-François Verdier. Verdier, himself a super-soloist clarinettist at the Paris Opera, entrusts the concertos to luxurious colleagues: Paul Meyer and Pierre Génisson find abundant material here to show off their respective sonorities, and also their virtuosity, notably at the time of the consequent cadenzas planned by Lefrançois. Magali Mosnier's tangy flute spices up the twirling Siguirya. In the company of such artists, this is a highly recommendable exile in Guernsey.
Thanks to Jean-Luc Clairet of ResMusica for this fine review of our " Crystal Palace " album, featuring compositions by Laurent Lefrançois.
