A winner of several major international awards, Marie Vermeulin performs as a soloist on the world’s greatest stages, with a style noted for its boldness, finesse, and maturity.
After studying at the Conservatoire de Boulogne-Billancourt and the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Lyon (under Hortense Cartier-Bresson and Edson Elias), Marie Vermeulin went on to specialize in the 20th-century French repertoire under Roger Murano.
A winner of several awards (Rome International Music Competition, M. Canals International Competition in Barcelona, O. Messiaen International Competition), she is supported by several foundations (Société Générale’s Mécénat Musical, the Safran Foundation, etc.) and the Institut français. She has performed at numerous leading festivals and venues: Cité de la Musique, Opéra Bastille, the Musée d’Orsay Auditorium, Bagatelle, Théâtre des Champs-Élysées, Opéra de Limoges, Opéra de Saint-Étienne…
Abroad, Marie has performed in Spain, in Madrid (Circulo de Bellas Artes/Teatro Real), as well as in Barcelona (Palau de la Musica), in Italy (the Monopoli and Bari festivals), in Germany (Kulturkreis Gasteig in Munich), in Lithuania, Algeria, Moldova, Turkey, Ethiopia, Montenegro, Lebanon…
Marie Vermeulin gives various lectures and master classes, particularly on the work of Olivier Messiaen, in which she is a specialist. She also collaborates with composers such as Alain Louvier, Bruno Ducol, Mauro Lanza, Philippe Fénelon, Jérôme Combier, François Meïmoun, Marco Stroppa, François-Bernard Mâche, Tristan Murail, and Pierre Boulez.
