Eric Lacrouts

Violin

Born in 1976 into a family of musicians, Eric Lacrouts began studying piano and violin at the age of six. After earning the highest honors in violin (class of Jacques Ghestem) and chamber music (classes of Régis Pasquier and Itamar Golan) at the Paris Conservatory (C.N.S.M.), he entered its highly selective advanced program. Upon completing his studies in France, he honed his skills under the guidance of great masters such as Igor Oistrakh, Yair Kless, Hermann Krebbers, Philippe Hirshorn, and Joseph Silverstein. As concertmaster of the Paris National Opera Orchestra since 2003, he has performed the operatic and symphonic repertoire under the baton of the greatest conductors (Solti, Osawa, Gergiev, Boulez, Salonen, Bychkov, Prêtre…) and has collaborated with numerous composers on their premieres. As first violin of the Psophos Quartet, he performs at numerous European festivals alongside artists such as Salvatore Accardo, Bruno Giurana, Antonio Meneses, Régis and Bruno Pasquier, Denis Pascal, and Cédric Tiberghien. Eric Lacrouts is the dedicatee and premiere performer of works by Lucien Guérinel, Gérard Gastinel, and Emmanuel Séjourné. On disc, his interpretation of Ysaye’s sonatas for solo violin (Klarthe label) has been praised by critics (Diapason, Classica, Resmusica…). Since the summer of 2010, he has been a member of the World Orchestra for Peace under the direction of Valery Gergiev. Éric Lacrouts plays a 1835 violin by Jean-Baptiste Vuillaume and a 2015 bow by Christian Barthe.
