While continuing his career as a classical conductor, Christophe Mangou, an eclectic musician, develops projects based on unique collaborations with musicians from diverse backgrounds.

A regular guest conductor with the Orchestre National du Capitole de Toulouse for several seasons, Christophe Mangou’s collaboration with the orchestra has, since the 2012–2013 season, expanded to include the development of his educational program. In this context, he has initiated several original and ambitious commissions, such as the musical taleEva pas à pas by Sylvain Griotto, premiered in March 2015;L’Ile Indigoby Julien Lhérissier and Julie Martigny (2017), which was staged with audience participation; andLost in Spacewith Jeff Mills (2018).

He has collaborated with numerous ensembles, including the Orchestre National d’Ile-de-France, the Britten Sinfonia, the BBC Symphony Orchestra, the Lausanne Chamber Orchestra, the Lille National Orchestra, the Strasbourg Philharmonic Orchestra, the Cannes Orchestra, the Lorraine National Orchestra, the Noord Nederlands Orkest, the Malmö Symphony Orchestra, the Orquestra Sinfónica do Porto, the Mulhouse Symphony Orchestra, the Avignon-Provence Lyric Orchestra, the Pau Orchestra, the Ensemble Orchestral Contemporain, the Symfonieorkest Vlaanderen, and the French National Orchestra.

To broaden his artistic horizons, he has been studying “Soundpainting” since 2004, a real-time composition technique based on guided improvisation that allows him to push the apparent “boundaries” between the various artistic worlds he engages with. He founded the Amalgammes ensemble in Paris.
