“It is the privilege of exceptional artists to command the spotlight. Violinist Chouchane Siranossian is one such artist.”(Diapason)
Chouchane Siranossian is today one of the greatest virtuosos on the international Baroque scene, both as a soloist and alongside numerous prestigious orchestras. Her mastery of the instrument, informed by her musicological research and her exemplary career, has made her a highly sought-after musician of great distinction. When Chouchane is not on stage, she devotes herself to her great passion: mountaineering.
Chouchane Siranossian kicks off the 2024–25 season with a return appearance at the “Chopin and His Europe” International Festival in Warsaw with the {oh!} Orkiestra Historyczna. Highlights of the season include a tour of the United States and South America with the Venice Baroque Orchestra, featuring concerts in São Paulo, Miami, Boston, and San Diego, as well as her debut with the BR Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Andrea Marcon. Additionally, she has been invited by the Dortmunder Philharmoniker, the Orquestra de Valencia, and the Orquestra Metropolitana de Lisboa. She performs chamber music programs, notably at the Kretinga Early Music Festival in Lithuania, in Santander, and in Geneva. Last season, the violinist received unanimous acclaim as artist-in-residence at the Bachfest Leipzig (notably her debut with the Gewandhausorchester Leipzig) and at the Bodenseefestival (notably a concert with the Bruckner Orchester Linz).
She began studying violin with Tibor Varga in Sion, and at age 15 was admitted to the CNSM in Lyon to study with Pavel Vernikov. In 2002, she joined Zakhar Bron’s class at the Musikhochschule in Zurich, where she earned her soloist diploma in 2007 with the highest honors. Shortly thereafter, she became concertmaster of the St. Gallen Symphony Orchestra (Switzerland), where she remained until her fateful meeting with Reinhard Goebel. She then devoted herself intensively to the study of early music with him at the Mozarteum in Salzburg and regularly collaborates as concertmaster and soloist under his direction.
She is also involved in the creation of new works; composers such as Daniel Schnyder, Marc-André Dalbavie, Aaron Kernis, Bechara El Khoury, Éric Tanguy, Benjamin Attahir, and Thomas Demenga have dedicated works to her.
Chouchane Siranossian performs as a soloist on both modern and Baroque violins, has collaborated with Leonardo García Alarcón, Bertrand Chamayou, Andrea Marcon, Jos van Immerseel, Christophe Rousset, Andreas Spering, and Thomas Hengelbrock, and performs with orchestras such as the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra, Les Siècles, the Bamberger Symphoniker, the Stuttgarter Kammerorchester, and the Venice Baroque Orchestra. She performs in major concert halls such as the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées, the Palau de la Música Catalana, Wigmore Hall in London, Bozar in Brussels, KKL Luzern, the Philharmonie Köln, the Warsaw Philharmonic Hall, and the Brucknerhaus in Linz, as well as at prestigious festivals such as the Rheingau Musik Festival, the Bachfest Leipzig, the Dresdner Musikfestspiele, Thuringian Bach Weeks, and Heidelberg Spring.
As an exclusive artist with Alpha Classics, Chouchane Siranossian released her latest album, *Duello d’archi a Venezia*, in June 2023, which received the Clef d’Or from ResMusica. Together with the Venice Baroque Orchestra, conducted by Andrea Marcon, she presents a “duel” between works by Vivaldi, Tartini, Locatelli, and Veracini. Her previous album, Bach before Bach, featuring Leonardo García Alarcón and Balázs Máté, received the Diapason d’Or, the Muse d’Or from Muse Baroque, and a Pizzicato Supersonic. Critics were also enthusiastic about her recording of Tartini’s violin concertos with the Venice Baroque Orchestra under the direction of Andrea Marcon, released in 2020. For this album, she received the ‘Preis der Deutschen Schallplatten Kritik’ in March 2020, the ‘Choc Classica’ 2020, the ICMA 2021 in the “Baroque Instrumental” category, and the ‘Premio della critica discografica Franco Abbiati – III Edizione – 2021’. That same year, she released Andreas Romberg’s violin concertos—recorded with the Capriccio Barock Orchester—which were highly praised by critics, awarded the Muse d’Or by Muse Baroque, and nominated for the 2022 ICMA. Her first solo CD, *Time Reflexion*, was awarded a “Diapason Découverte” in 2015; her recording of Mendelssohn’s concerto with Anima Eterna Brugge, *In Time*, as well as the CD *L’Ange et le Diable en Duo* with Jos van Immerseel, received numerous awards, including two ICMA (International Classical Music Awards, 2017 and 2019).
Chouchane plays a Baroque violin by Giuseppe and Antonio Gagliano, and a violin by Giovanni Battista Guadagnini, provided by Fabrice Girardin, a luthier in La Chaux-de-Fonds.
